The game takes a different form from that of the Sims 3 and it is to navigate between our characters (king, doctor, spy, soldier, bard …) based quests that you choose. The consequences for the rest of the Kingdom are also substantially different, but here we regret that the creators were not more ambitious . We would have liked to deal with a real animal kingdom and not a series of trades without real connections with each other. Worse, it spends most of his time to control only one character at a time and only allow advanced quests – fortunately – to pool the expertise of many of our heroes … Alas, even then, complementarity does not go very far.

Chinchillas and hypochondriacs

The bulk of our business is to lead one (or more so) of our characters through very small environments. In the case of the soldier, this is for example put an end to the terrible threat posed by Chinchillas back in the forest while the doctor will cure diseases that would not have repudiated the old Theme Hospital. If the realistic aspect of the Middle Ages is clearly not appropriate, the humor is much more prevalent , but also much more successful than in The Sims 3.

Alas, this does not detract from the repetitive side quests while daily life – for us to hang our daily Sims – are of little interest. The latter are used to finally put additional constraints so that the player does not forget to feed her and make sims complete tasks related to their profession: listen to the grievances of the people for the King / Queen, patients receiving various consultation for the doctor, feeding the ugly beast for the soldier …

A trifle too prescriptive …

That said, the biggest problem of the game remains highly interventionist side of things. While daily tasks have been simplified (no longer a question of managing urgent desires of the Sims), the main quests in fact much like the job of detective in The Sims 3: it follows a track, step by step, helped by the presence large markers on the screen. There is not any challenge, any trouble and just obey the recommendations without thinking one second … All quests then quickly appear identical.

Fortunately, the context of each variety so that brings humor – so ubiquitous – used to renew a few things without which the player quickly find the time long. We must also recognize that the disappearance of the construction aspect may disappoint many fans: the developers do more than allow us to decorate the surroundings and yet there are many fewer objects than in the previous installment of the franchise. A franchise that innovates well, not the technical side: the motor does not change much and the camera is sometimes a bit embarrassing.

 

Conclusion

For many players, The Sims is an original concept, but which one does not linger more than a few hours. One thing that obviously does not share the millions of fans of the franchise, but which nevertheless takes its full meaning The Sims Medieval. Singular in its form, the new album does not actually succeed in motivating the players over time. The atmosphere is friendly, humor is successful and the situations are really funny. Alas, by the look of things too directive gives the whole a highly repetitive and it was soon printing still doing the same thing. A title that will not have the longevity of a Sims 3 … unless extensions fall quickly sauce?
