Coming to the Playstation 2 on February 14, 2006 is Grandia III, the third game in a wonderful series that started on the Dreamcast almost five years ago. Some RPG fans may be waiting for SquareEnix’s Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy XII, but underestimating this game would be a huge mistake.
The game starts with the main character, Yuki, dreaming of building his own airplane so that he could cross the ocean. Eventually, one day he tests his airplane and his adventure begins when he meets a girl name Alfina. The two quickly join forces to find her missing brother Emelious. Like the other titles in the Grandia series there is sure to be a lot of adventure, danger, and romance in the story.
Grandia III will have a unique battle system that blends turn-based with real-time battle systems. There will be an IP guage at the top left of the screen which displays the turn order, and there will be a plethora of commands to choose from. The battle system will be fast paced and aerial combo attacks will make it very exciting.
The visuals also look great. The art directing is superb bringing out beautiful colors and backgrounds. The texture detail and interior design are some of the best the Ps2 has to offer. Check out some of the screenshots on this page.
Though this game may not be the most anticipated game coming out for Square Enix, it is probably the most anticipated true RPG to be coming out this year. Coming out just in time for Valentine’s day Grandia III will bring us great gameplay, stunning visuals, and a well developed story. So, don’t be too depressed if you are single on the 14th of February.
