I know, I know; the last several James Bond games haven't exactly been that great in quality. But now Bonds is back...kind of. This time you play as a, guess what, Rogue Agent! Yes, Bonds does die, infact in just the 1st or 2nd level in the game. (yes, I know that was a spoiler) However life goes on, even though your blamed for his death and thus begins your career as a Rogue Agent.
I know this for sure, Rogue Agent is about as average as it can get (graphically) on the XBOX. Although there are some really cool death animations, the textures and especially the weird blue...stuff...that flys out when shooting a bad guy just looks, average. Talking about that blue stuff, what is up with that? Ever seen random things coming out of someone's head when punching them? Nope you haven't and it's just as dumb in Rogue Agent. On the plus side, the surroundings, vehicles and guns all look pretty detailed and stand out.
Rogue Agent, playibility wise, is also very average. The controls are nice and don't take long to get used to, however annoyances such as periodic dumb AI; getting stuck in a wall, getting stuck with another enemy and/or going into a room with enemies and a delayed reaction before they shoot; all can really take you out and without question the worst part is where you can and can't go. Yes it is one of those games where if you want to go somewhere aside from the main path, too bad. Quite often it seems that another way would be quicker/better but I guess all you can say is "oh well". Also you can't jump. Yes, one of the most basic and most used functions in video games, is not in the game. I can't tell you how many times that the Jump function would of been nice to have. Jump over a barrel instead of going around, jumping across a ledge/onto a ledge and many other opportunities.
Probably the best part of Goldeneye, which helps the game cling onto a "good score", is multiplayer. As is just about every XBOX Live game, Goldeneye is a lot of fun online and a really good multiplayer game. Single player wise It has a weak story and is an alright length.
I won't lie, I was not hyped for Rogue Agent. Thanks to that I was a little surprised but once I got used to the game I realized that it was indeed what I predicted, an average game. But still a really good rent, try it out.
